Fowler Organ Company Lansing, MI
Many organs built in the twentieth century use electric action; Each key is essentially; a switch which turns on an electromagnet to admit wind to a pipe. However, in even a small organ, the system of mechanical relays and switches required to route the playing information from the keys to the magnets quickly becomes quite tedious! Hundreds or thousands of small moving parts are involved and reliability can become a big problem.
Fear not, there is help from modern technology! Virtually all new organs from the last fifteen years use solid state computer controls. But old organs are not left out! Mechanical switches can be easily replaced with modern computer circuits with no moving parts. This can greatly improve the reliability and function of an older organ. Computer control also means lots of neat toys for the organist, making organ playing fun!
Some of the toys (uh, features) can include:
We offer solid state switching and combination actions from Solid State Logic, Peterson Electro-Musical Products, and Syndyne Corporation.
Carefully customized electronic 32' and 16' stops can be added to your pedal division to give more bass. Special-purpose digital voices can be added to other divisions where space is lacking (celeste, chimes, harp etc.)
We also offer Proteus MIDI Sound modules which can be used to augment the capabilities of your organ with a virtually limitless palette of sounds.
